Vertical files of clippings, pamphlets, programs, and miscellaneous printed materials on the history of Long Island. The bulk of the material consists of clippings and photocopies gathered since the mid-1970s, with scattered printed items and ephemera dating back to the 1800s. There are general subject files on a variety of topics; locality files dealing with specific towns, villages, hamlets, and other places in Nassau County, Suffolk County, and the town of Smithtown; name files containing genealogical and biographical materials on individuals; a picture file, mostly photocopies of photoprints from the collections of other historical societies; and copies of the Historic Sites Inventory forms for the Town of Smithtown.
